Barn

• The placement of the rat is not known

• The dog owner says where the rat is by using the dog’s behaviors

 

Brush

• The judge note when the dog clearly shows where the rat is.

 

Tunnel

• For small dogs, closed tunnel with a non-visible rat at the end of it.

 

The goal is to find the rat as quickly as possible.
With the different levels, there can be multiples rats involved and the time to find the rats is limited.

 

My dogs are trained to search for the odor of live rats and have to know the distinction between the tube with the rats and the one with only rat litter. It is a simple sport and all kind of dog breed can participate.

 

The search for smell is natural and motivation for a dog. Furthermore, farm dogs have a strong predator instinct. They are of sure help when it comes to hunt the undesirables at the farm.
